Bihar is a land of cooperative movement : Guv

Bihar Governor Mr Ramakant Kobind said Bihar is a land of cooperatives since a long time and it is a matter of pride that Board meetings of four national-level cooperative federations are taking place in Patna. He was speaking on the release of souvenir of Bihar State Cooperative Bank at the posh Panache hotel in Patna on Friday.

The function was attended by the high and mighty of the cooperative world including the state cooperation minister Alok Mehta, NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav and several others.

Governor congratulated the BSCB team for holding the Board meeting in Bihar after a gap of 32 years. “Cooperative is a way of life and it has the potential to improve the lot of downtrodden”, he added.

He also lauded the role being played by the PACS in the state and felt confident that the movement would empower women also. Congratulating the state govt for developing software to achieve the dream of online submission of forms for PACS membership, he said that “SABKA VIKAS AND SABKA SATH” is possible by adopting the cooperative model extensively.

Chandra Pal Singh Yadav ,NCUI President thanked the Governor for agreeing to attend the function and said his participation has inspired millions of cooperative soldiers active in the movement. Yadav said he knew the Governor since long and also knows his commitment towards the have-nots of the society. He also complemented Biscomaun Chairman for organizing such a grand function where cooperators of all hues are participating.

Alok Mehta, the cooperation minister said with the change in the value system in state policies welfare spirit has given way to commercialization leading to weakening of institutions like cooperative. He vowed to bring the values back in govt policies and revive cooperative in a big way. But Mehta also reminded cooperative leaders on the need to be transparent.

Welcoming the Governor Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Singh thanked him profusely and said his presence despite the on-going Assembly session speaks volumes about his commitment to the cause of cooperative. “ Kisan and cooperative are on top in his priorities as is clear from his acceptance of our invitation”, Sunil added.

NAFSCOB Chairman Dilipbhai Sanghani wanted other cooperative leaders to learn from Sunil Singh and said we all should try to have such function in states so that the cooperative movement picks up steam.

Bihar State Cooperative Bank Chairman thanked the guests for their participation.

The meeting ended with the high-tea followed by Board meeting of the NCUI,NCCF,KRIBHCO and NAFSCOB. Sunil and his team had also organized a scintillating cultural show enjoyed by cooperators in a relaxing atmosphere after a hectic day.
