Cooperators’ reactions to the Bihar election results have been a mixed bag with those associated with Congress and regional parities JDU and RJD hailing the verdict and gloating over the BJP’s rout.
Those hailing from the nationalist BJP were feeling down in the dumps with the results trickling in early Sunday morning. BJP’s icon and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s high voltage campaign had been to little avail.
Cooperators are quick at protesting their political neutrality but their utterances on social media nail the truth with some openly hailing the verdict while others excoriating it.
And there are many other cooperators who wear their political affiliation on their sleeve like Pramod Kumar Singh Uttrakhand State Cooperative Union chairman a declared Congressman.
Sunil Kumar Singh, Biscomaun Chairman is a known supporter of RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav whose Party has emerged as the single largest party bagging 80 seats, more than Nitish Kumar’s JDU. The photographs of Sunil sitting with Lalu Yadav dot his facebook wall. But Singh is not there to celebrate as he is busy attending ICA General Assembly in Turkey.
Prem Chandra Munshi, IFFCO Director from Bihar is also an old Congressman and he could not hide his happiness while writing on social media”I thank people of Bihar for reposing faith in Mahagathbandhan. We assure people that we would never betray their trust.
Munshi is an acolyte of Nagendra Jha, a former Minister and powerful Brahmin leader of Congrees in its hey days in Bihar during Indira Gandhi era.
BJP supporters were muted in their reactions but Sahakar Bharati Chief Satish Marathe wrote on his FB wall justifying Amit Shah words that if Nitish wins there would be celebrations in Pakistan. He posted a tweet of Gen Rizwaan Akhatar to prove his point “Gen Rizwaan Akhatar @DirGen_ISI Celebrated at our ISI-HQ, Islamabad. Congratulations to @NitishKumar & @laluprasadrjd . We Won. #BiharElections #BiharResults.
However, cooperators in general are having a sense of relief as Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh a BJP leader from Bihar would now be available at Shashtri Bhawan in Delhi after a long absence.
