Assam is first to have cooperative schools

Assam would soon be having schools run by the cooperative societies as the state govt is toying with the idea of allowing educational institutions in the cooperative sector. Assam minister of cooperative societies said this while attending a meeting in Nalbari district of the state.

According to the minister, the move is likely to inspire educated young men of the state into establishing quality schools through forming their own educational cooperative societies. As schools in the cooperative sector would help the state remedy its educational backwardness, the state govt. would ever be willing to support such experiments.

The state govt. may consider involving the successful cooperative societies in providing citizens with various essential services. Persuaded of the usefulness of the cooperative movement, the govt. is taking all possible steps to strengthen the cooperative societies in the state, the minister added.

Analysts say if the idea of having schools in the cooperative sector gets translated into a reality, Assam would go down as a pioneer in the field.
