The office of the Delhi Registrar of Cooperative Societies has appointed Shamsher Singh as an arbitrator to settle the disputes related to the elections of the National Federation of Tourism & Transport Cooperatives of India (NFTC) held in January this year.
Singh has called all the elected directors and others on 17 June 2022 at 11:30 AM at Azurra Hotels, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi for answering material questions relating to the dispute.
It bears recall that Nacof Director Ranjit Singh and Rajeev Singh son of Nacof working Chairman Ram Iqbal Singh had appealed to the Central Registrar to appoint the arbitrator to settle the disputes related to NFTC.
The society which Rajeev Singh and Ranjit Singh are representing are members of NFTC. Rajeev Singh represents Kanpur-based Hindustan Labour Multi-State Cooperative. After the death of veteran cooperator from Delhi, Suresh Sharma, the former board had nominated Nacof Director Ranjit Singh as the Chairman.
Talking to the Indian Cooperative correspondent NFTC Director Jalaj Sen said, “VVP Nair who is the present Chairman of the said organization has misused the fund in a big way and given a bribe of more than Rs 1 lakh to the Returning office to win the elections. He used to stay at the five-star hotels at the expense of the transport cooperative which is itself cash-starved “, Sen claimed.
“For winning the elections, Nair has wrongly made the six societies the members of NFTC. His son Dhanraj P. is also on the board of federation but the society which he is representing is neither in existence nor comes in the area of operation, Sen informed the Indian Cooperative correspondent.
Earlier, NFTC former Managing Director Sanjay Sinha had written a letter to the Secretary of the Department of cooperation claiming the irregularities in the elections held in January this year. He accused all the incumbent directors of being elected on an illegal basis and demanded an inquiry into the matter.
In his complaint letter, Sinha made several strong allegations against the present Chairman VVP Nair, and the Returning officer, Dr V K Dubey (Ex-Director, NCUI) who had been appointed to oversee the election process.
“V.K. Dubey in connivance with VVP Nair and Ram Naresh Thakur (NFTC, Executive Director-Project & HR) fraudulently accepted 48 State Co-operative Societies to nominate their delegates to participate in the election of NFTC. Out of 48 societies, 34 of them were not from the area of operations of NFTC as approved by CRCS”, Sinha accused.
He further added that the society Nair represents at NFTC is Goa-based and the said state is not our area of Jurisdiction. Several days back we had requested the Central Registrar to expand our area of operation to the state of Goa but on several grounds, he rejected our request”, Sinha informed on the phone.
Indian Cooperative’s efforts to contact Nair have failed so far.
