The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched the beta version of the Adi Sanskriti digital platform, reinforcing the role of cooperatives in promoting tribal art, culture and livelihoods through digital integration with the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd.
Replying to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durgadas Uikey informed that the beta version of the platform was launched on September 10, 2025.
A key cooperative component of the initiative is the online marketplace Adi Haat, which has been integrated with TRIFED’s online marketing platform to create direct and transparent market linkages for products made by tribal artisans associated with cooperatives and self-help groups.
As a national-level tribal cooperative body, TRIFED acts as a market developer and service provider, supporting tribal communities in accessing domestic and international markets. Through the Adi Sanskriti platform, TRIFED will facilitate fair trade practices, brand development and sustainable marketing opportunities, ensuring better price realization and reduced dependence on intermediaries.
Beyond marketing, Adi Sanskriti also functions as a digital knowledge repository and learning platform for tribal art forms. In the first phase, it offers 45 immersive courses under the Adi Vishwavidyalaya section and hosts nearly 3,000 curated documents preserved under Adi Sampada, documenting India’s rich tribal socio-cultural heritage.
These resources are developed through participatory processes involving Tribal Research Institutes, domain experts and award-winning tribal master artisans, ensuring authenticity and community ownership.
The platform aims to digitally map and archive tribal art forms, create a modern digital academy for skill transmission and promote cooperative-led livelihood generation.
In the second phase, Adi Sanskriti is proposed to be renamed TribalEx, an expanded e-learning platform being developed by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The total sanctioned outlay for the project is Rs 2.46 crore, of which over Rs 65.83 lakh has been utilised so far.
