NCDFI: Shah replaces Mangal Jeet; elected Chairman unanimously

NDDB Chairman and a global voice in the field of dairy sector, Dr. Meenesh Shah has been unanimously elected as the Chairman of the National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India Ltd. (NCDFI) in the recent Board elections held on April 5, 2024. The election, overseen by Praveen Chaudhary, IAS, District Collector/Magistrate of Anand, saw Dr. Shah chosen to lead the apex body of dairy cooperatives.

Shah replaces Mangal jeet Rai, who could not contest for the top post as he had already done two terms as the Chairman of NCDFI. Mangal Jeet, who has been re-elected as the Director, is also a member of NCUI’s Governing Council.

Prior to his election, NCDFI’s General Body meeting on April 4, 2024, saw the unopposed election of eight directors to the Board, including Dr. Meenesh Shah from Jharkhand Milk Federation, among others. Additionally, Shri S. Regupathi, Executive Director of NDDB, was nominated as a director on the NCDFI Board.

Following the elections, the newly formed Board convened on April 5, 2024, and appointed Dr. Meenesh Shah as its Chairman. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Srinivas Sajja, MD of NCDFI, highlighted Dr. Shah’s extensive experience, having chaired various esteemed institutions in the dairy sector.

Dr. Meenesh Shah’s appointment is expected to bolster NCDFI’s initiatives aimed at addressing the evolving needs of dairy farmers and stakeholders nationwide. His leadership is anticipated to foster stronger collaborations within the dairy community, driving the industry forward.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity, Dr. Shah reiterated his commitment to advancing NCDFI’s objectives and expanding its activities across the country, reaffirming the cooperative framework’s significance in the dairy sector.

Established on December 7, 1970, NCDFI is a national-level apex dairy cooperative governed under the provisions of the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Act, 2023. It comprises 20 Regular Members, 14 Associate Members, and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) as its Institutional Member.
