Milk Coop: Kurushetra for K’nataka politicos

Forgetting all ideals of cooperative spirit Karnataka Ministers and ex-ministers are battling it out at the cost of Karnataka Milk Federation.

The Karnataka high court on Wednesday issued notices to chief minister BS Yeddyurappa in a case related to the audit reports of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF). Former Karnataka minister and president of Hassan Milk Co-Operative Society (HMCS) HD Revanna, along with other ex-directors of KMF had filed a batch of four petitions seeking quashing of the audit reports against them.

In two of the petitions, Yeddyuarappa is also made a party by name along with officials of the audit department. Revanna had claimed that the whole exercise is politically motivated and alleged that the government is doing this with an ulterior motive.

He had further claimed that the audit reports were prepared without even providing him an opportunity to reply to the allegations.

The petitions had come up before justice S Abdul Nazeer for preliminary hearing, who then issued notices to Yeddyurappa. The petitioner counsel argued that Revanna, as a leader of the opposition Janata Dal(S), had taken on the ruling BJP government on several issues. The director of cooperative audit and the registrar of cooperative societies are trying to find out non-existent mistakes against Revanna and others only with a political vendetta.
