Vipul Chaudhary, chairman of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) is finally pinned down through a no-confidence resolution passed by a majority of the board members.
They have already informed the High Court of their decision and sought the court’s permission to implement it.
All relevant documents have been put before the Gujarat High Court as per direction given by the Supreme Court. Earlier Mr. Chaudhary had filed his plea before the apex court challenging the no-confidence motion. The case is expected to come up for hearing soon.
Most of the GCMMF board members have supported the move against the present chairman. They have taken a dim view of his leadership and made a slew of allegations against the chairman challenging his ability to manage affairs in the interest of the organisation.
According to the board members, Mr. Chaudhary’s politics have seriously threatened the interests of lakhs of milk producers in Gujarat.
It is worth mentioning that the GCMMF board had earlier been permitted by a division bench of the High Court to debate the no-confidence motion against Mr. Chaudhary.
However, when the chairman went to the Supreme Court demanding quashing of the order passed by the High Court, the apex court refused any interference but instead asked the member dairy unions to approach the single judge of the Gujarat High Court for a decision about implementing the no-confidence resolution.
The GCMMF chairman’s difficulty is compounded by the fact that he is being charged with corruption by the members of the Mehsana District Milk Producers Union which he is heading as well.
In response to a PIL filed by some members of the Dairy Union, the Gujarat High Court had asked the Gujarat Govt. to conduct an enquiry into the charges of corruption brought against Mr. Vipul Chaudhary.
