At the present time, the shortage of cattle feed is sweeping both Maharashtra and Gujarat. Exhibiting a rare generosity Chairman of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) Vipul Chaudhary sent thousands of metric tonnes of fodder free to the drought affected areas of Maharashtra in May.
However, Mr. Chaudhary’s gesture has been mired in controversy. The dairy unions in Gujarat have expressed their disapproval of the GCCMF providing Maharashtra with cattle feed at a time when Gujarat itself is experiencing an acute shortage of animal feed.
Sources say there are influential people in the GCMMF who argue that if the Maharashtra and the central govts. seriously put in their efforts they could easily solve this problem.
Sources add when even members of the GCMMF have to buy cattle feed, how can the Gujarat dairy cooperative major supply cattle feed free to Maharashtra.
