Dairy Cooperatives:Sudha catches CM’s fancy

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has lauded the Bihar Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation for their success in increasing the milk production in the state.

He said the increase made possible so far deserved appreciation but there was no room for complacency. There was an urgent need for effecting at least a four-fold increase in the milk production over the next years.

Sudha has registered an extraordinary upswing under the NDA govt in Bihar. According to Nitish Kumar, his govt. had decided to take up agricultural development on a priority basis and dairy would be an important component of it.

His govt. would also promote animal husbandry and would provide generous loans for the raising of livestock. Bihar govt. was seriously engaged in building various agricultural marketing facilities and the move was bound to benefit the dairy producers.

According to deputy chief minister Sushil Modi , the govt. has asked the banks in the state to disburse an amount of rs.1423 crore among the milk producers.

In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Bihar has begun putting in major efforts to improve agriculture in the state. It has decided to allocate an amount of Rs 90,000 crore for agricultural development in 2012.

The lion’s share of the amount would go into paying loans, boosting storage capacity and marketing infrastructure. The govt  would also bear the costs of storage and fertilisers during the off-season.

That apart, the govt would establish bazars, rural hats, cooperative markets and use private public partnership for building marketing facilities.
