A news outlet reports Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the new dairy complex and potato processing plant at Diyodar in Banaskantha district during his recent visit to his home state Gujarat. Banas Dairy is one of the milk unions of GCMMF.

Those present on the occasion included Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, several Gujarat cabinet ministers, chairman of Banas Dairy, NCUI President Dileep Sanghani and others.

Lauding the efforts of Banas Dairy, PM Modi said, “In the last several years, the Dairy has become a hub for empowering local communities, especially farmers and women. Dairy co-op movement is helping farmers and cattle rearing communities in states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Odisha (Somnath to Jagannath), Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand, noted the PM.

“Banas Dairy has proved that resources can be used to increase the income of local farmers. Potatoes, honey, and other related products are changing the destiny of the farmers”, said Modi.

The Prime Minister said a milk cooperative like Banas dairy would uplift the rural economy and the cooperative movement as a whole would greatly strengthen the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign.

Referring to the foundation laying of Banas- Kashi Sankul in his constituency Varanasi, the PM thanked Banas Dairy for taking the initiative to serve the farmers of his constituency.

It is worth mentioning that the prime minister during his visit to Gujarat inaugurated several projects aimed to ensure the welfare of the people in general.

The Banas dairy complex will “enable the processing of about 30 lakh litres of milk, produce about 80 tonnes of butter, one lakh litres of ice cream, 20 tonnes of condensed milk (Khoya) and 6 tonnes of chocolate daily,” the official press release had stated.

Modi also launched the Banas Community Radio Station which will provide farmers with key scientific information related to agriculture and animal husbandry. The PM also dedicated to the nation the expanded facilities for the production of cheese products and whey powder at the Banas dairy plant in Palanpur.

On the occasion, he bowed to the women of Banaskantha who took care of their cattle as their children. The Prime Minister reiterated his love for the people of Banaskantha and said he will always be linked to them wherever he goes. “I will be with you as a partner in your fields”, said the Prime Minister.

He praised Gobardhan and appreciated these projects for helping in the government’s efforts to create wealth from waste by establishing such plants all over the country. He said that these plants will benefit by maintaining cleanliness in villages, giving income to farmers for “Gobar”, producing electricity, and protecting the natural manure. He said such efforts strengthen our villages and our women and protect mother earth.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, State BJP President CR Patil, NCUI President Dileepbhai Sanghani, Banas Dairy Chairman Shankarbhai Chaudhary, thousands of cooperators, farmers, women, and others were present during the inaugural program.
