Banas dairy to revive UP dairy scene

The dairy scene in India’s largest state UP has turned messy as the Parag brand of milk marketed by the Pradeshik Cooperation Dairy Federation of the state has come to grief.

The people as a consequence have begun griping about the shortage of standard milk and the milk farmers about their exploitation by private players.

Against this background, the govt in Lucknow has decided to follow the Amul paradigm in dairy development putting in place a broad network of milk cooperatives across the state. It deserves mention that as of today milk cooperatives are conspicuous by their absence in UP.

Incidentally, Amul already has a toe-hold in UP that is likely to help it gain further expansion. Amul   through Banas Dairy has been procuring and distributing milk in Kanpur and Lucknow.

According to Banas Dairy Chairman Mr Parthi Bhatol, his company is interested in expanding its activities throughout Uttar Pradesh.  Banas with experience, skill and strong financial position is fully qualified to help the country’s most populous state achieve transformation in dairy development, Bhatol asserted.

A source knowledgeable with the dairy scene in UP is quoted saying, there is no denying that UP with its  dairy development patterned on Amul experiment will soon be swamped by milk  and milk products.
