Ombudsman office Invites applications for Legal post

The Office of the Cooperative Ombudsman, under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, has issued a notification inviting applications for engagement of one Young Professional (Legal) on a consultancy basis. The position will be based at the Ombudsman’s office located on the 9th Floor, Tower-E, World Trade Centre, Nauroji Nagar, New Delhi.

As per the notice dated January 22, 2026, candidates must possess an LLB degree from a National Law University, National Law School, or any other recognized institution in the country. A postgraduate degree in law and experience in matters related to Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) will be considered desirable. The upper age limit for applicants is 32 years as on January 1, 2026. The selected candidate will receive a consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs 20,000.

The Cooperative Ombudsman has been appointed under Section 5A of the MSCS Act, 2002, following amendments to the Act, vide Gazette Notification dated May 5, 2024. The Ombudsman handles complaints from members of Multi-State Cooperative Societies related to deposits, equitable benefits, and individual member rights, as well as appeals against orders of Cooperative Information Officers under Section 106 of the Act.
