Women empowerment through co-op

K.Anbumani

I am a professor from Lucknow, teaching management to MBA students. Presently I am planning to conduct a research on ‘women empowerment through cooperatives’.

I want your help in identifying the major parameters on which I could assess women empowerment.

For example, I thought that I can estimate the economic empowerment of women members by measuring the extent of ST/MT/LT accessed by them in cooperatives for their various economic activities.

Similarly I also thought that I can estimate their political empowerment by measuring the extent of their participation in the board / board meetings, etc.

I would be grateful if you could help me to think about some other related points by which I can measure the ‘women empowerment’ through cooperatives.

Please also let me apart from economic and political empowerment can I think about some other direction also?
