Ours is a co operative society , recently there was fire on 3rd floor of our building due to which electrical cables got burnt and there were other damages like walls and paint etc.

I would like to know as who has to pay for these repairs now? Is it the entire society or only 3rd floor unit holders because other floor members are saying that the power / electrical cables from meter room upto the particular premises are belonging to that particular member (owner of premises) and society is not the owner hence not responsible to pay for these replacements of wires and cables though passing in the common passage.

I understand the common passage is society’s property hence society should bear the cost . Please guide us and clarify the same as to under co operative society’s by laws and rules and act who should pay for such fire accidents

I C Naik

I do not have a copy of your Society’s bye Laws. I do not know your Society is in which State.

I suggest you to buy from the Society a certified true copy of the same refer to them and then if you want to reconfirm your views you can send me a Statement as to how you reached a particular decision for my reconfirmation.
