We stay at a “CHS LTD” at Thane. The question I have are
1. There is no availability for visitors parking. Upon asking, I was told that it’s not allowed as per society policy. There are still 2 vacant parking spaces in the society.
2. I am using one parking space. If I have a visitor, can I park his car in the society on my parking space, and i will park my car outside. Again I was told by the chairman of our society that the car should be on my name only. I cannot park my brother’s car in my society.
How true is this statement? I feel they are just bullying us making us feeling helpless.

Section 36(2) of Development Control Regulations (DCR), 1991, makes it mandatory for every residential building in the city to reserve space for parking visitors’ vehicles. In the island city, 25 per cent of a society’s total parking space has to be reserved for visitors, while in the suburbs it’s 10 per cent, subject to minimum of 2 Spaces. Subject to above, Parking Rules are laid down in the registered bye-laws of every housing society and the Committee or the society in General Body Meeting cannot make a rule which violates bye-laws.
Go to the society office and ask for free inspection of registered bye-laws of your housing society and if you want copy you have to pay copying charges as specified in the registered bye-laws .
