Query of M.S Suri

M.S Suri

I have been reading your comments in newspaper n would like to know if any associate member can bearer stand for election n become office bearer. Does any coop law permit societies to charge residences apartments at one rate and commercial shop owners a higher rate for maintenance.

Your valuable advice would be highly appreciated.

Thanking you

I C Naik

Answer to both the questions are to be found in the registered bye Laws of the Society and not in Cooperative Society’s Act. The Act confers right on every member to obtain certified copy of the bye laws of his society upon payment of fees prescribed under the Bye laws. There are no common rules for these matters and hence a member has to consult the bye laws. If a member does not want to spend a pie he can go to the office and inspect the bye laws free.
