My name is David and I am studying in Sweden. I am interested in writing a Master thesis about the cooperative movement globally.
My understanding is that cooperatives are groups working together for a common cause and that they are created through a group of people working in a region/district restricted to a certain number of people within that district/region. Since people, NGOs and businesses and other corporate bodies worldwide increasingly are very much interconnected globally the challenge arises for how the cooperative movement in countries around the world is affected by this development, for example in regulations and management.
How cooperatives in India changes (possibly through regulations and management) is of interest looking into. A question that I am currently studying is: Is it possible for an individual, NGO, a business, firm or any other corporate body coming from abroad to be a member and have a share in a Cooperative society in India (under the condition that it has interest in supporting the common cause of the Cooperative)?
