Query of Chirag Shah

We have got our society Registration completed in July. It’s a Commercial Cooperative Society.

We need to convey our first meeting by end of October 2016. If you can please guide us in terms of Dos and Don’ts in conveying 1st AGM, content of notice and forming Committee.

I C Naik

  1. Immediately buy a set of The MCS Act 1960 and the MCR 1961 since every Cooperative Society is obliged as provided u/s 32 of the MCS Act 1960 to permit free inspection thereof to its members.
  2. Then read Section 73(1A) and Rule 59 and relevant Bye Law No of registered bye laws of your Cooperative Society (to which I do not have an access so I cannot quote the No).
  3. These provide a complete procedure to convene the first general body meeting of a newly registered Cooperative Society.

This meeting is the responsibility of the Chief Promoter and time limit is three months from the date of registration of the Society.
