Query of Ashish Nath

Respected sir is it possible to hold a meeting of SGM in the absence of the chairman since just before the meeting the honourable chairman was detected with cancer lump and he advised to postpone the meeting but some managing members suggested about appointing a senior member from the committee to preside over the meeting .now the problem here is that this committee is newly formed with the secretary and the treasurer is new and only the chairman was elected from the old member. So whatever queries from the members can be only answered by the chairman the secretary and treasurer are not in a position to answer so can you please suggest some solution to it

I C Naik

Any member can be elected to preside over this specific meeting. The questions can be answered by Secretary or any other member. If in the absence of Chairman if several questions are unanswered meeting can be adjourned by passing a resolution fixing the date as provided in the bye-laws reading as under:

If all the business on the agenda of the general body meeting of the Society cannot be transacted on the day on which the general body meeting is held, the meeting shall be postponed to any other suitable date, not later than 30 days from the date of the meeting, as may be decided by the members present at the meeting.
