Myself Ashish Kanate and I lived in Badlapur last 4 years, Mumbai. I have some question related to society office space related.

In my society total 98 flats. When we handover our society from builder to our Society members for 4 years before, builder gives us a big office space, which is he previously used by builder as a sell’s office. Area of that space is near about 2500 to 3000 sq. Feet.

Our society don’t want to use that space any commercial used.  We used that space only for small library only for society members.

Till date no any tax occur that space from nagarpalika. And we don’t have any documents related to that office space. Now we have a question that, that space is authorised for our society or not?
If not then its possible to authorised the same?

Kindly guide us, what we do for next step?

I C Naik

Property matters are wit Thane Municipal Corporation. The Society should make an application for an approved building plan. This will give you status of the Office Space. Builder would not have abandoned it forfree. If it  is found in the Plan it belongs to the Society. Ask for permission for a possible use the Society contemplates.
