I would like to know relevant procedure under Maharashtra Co-operative Housing Societies statute for appointment of the Chairman of a CHS after incumbent Chairman has resigned.
What is the process for appointment/ selection/ election of the new Chairman along with relevant legal requirements’ fulfillment?
In our society, the elected Chairman had resigned and managing committee has gone ahead by choosing another society member as Chairman. The info to that effect was passed to all society members through whatsapp mobile application.

The Chairman of CHS is to be elected by the members of the newly elected Committee in the presence of the officer deputed by State Cooperative Election Authority (SCEA). If a Chairman resigns the CEO of the Society should inform SCEA who shall make necessary arrangements.
