Rama Chandran

I read an article in your website stating that co-operative elections in Maharashtra have been postponed to December 2014.

1.  When was the elections held in Maharashtra last time around?

2.What is the time period for last elected co operators tenure came to an end….in Maharashtra…

3. Are elected representatives till holding the office for this extended period?

I C Naik

Prior to MCS Act amendment there were threecategories of Societies forelection purposes:

a.   Certain specified societies as (Section 73G Societies)

b. Certain State Government notified societies (Section 73IC Societies)

c.    Housing Societies having in house procedure forming part of Bye Laws.

?Elections were held at different times and tenure also ended on different dates.?

?Section 166 of MCS Act 1961 has a new Sub Section 4 which has allowed all Committees to stay put till Elections are held by State Cooperative Election Commission. In view of ensuing Assembly Elections to install new Government by November it is only after some lapse of time therefater that the Committees having completed the tenure will heave a sigh of relief.   ?
