I was interested to know whether a non occupant can contest or participate for the Co-operative Housing Society elections and be a part of the society committee.

Please check with bye-laws as the Act is silent about this.

Can an Associate Member of Coop. Society in Mumba/Maharashtra, who is living in the Flat in Society, can become full fledged member of the society after the death of her mother. My grand mother was original member of the society and she had nominated my un-married uncle and unmarried aunt to be her nominees for the shares. Whether all the LRs of my grand mother, who are/were not staying in the flat have any right to inherit the shares/membership of the society after the death of my grand mother or the only surviving unmarried aunt shall have any priority right to membership after the death of unmarried uncle. Unmarried aunt was an associate member of the Society.
