Can a joint-holder be office-bearer?

I am from Maharashtra. My query is:

a) Husband and Wife both are joint owner. Can wife become a office bearer of the housing society?

b) Wife and Husband both are joint owner. Can husband become a M.C member of a Housing society?

One more time.. As per Section 24(2) of MCS Act 1960, an associate member, may, subject to the provisions of sub-section (8) of section 27, have such privileges and rights and be subject to such liabilities of a member, as may be specified in the by-laws of the society.

So if the Bye Laws so provides he/she can become even a Chairman.
