UCB in TN: Story of a father and his helpless son

By Srini Vasan

Dear Sir,

I am writing this Email On behalf of my father S.Mahalingam working in a Co-operative Urban bank at Pallikonda, Vellore District in Tamil Nadu.

He is working for the bank since 1988 and he is now handling all the activities of the bank but he doesn’t have either the requisite qualification or the physical capacity to handle that kind of job.

His superiors as well as subordinates at that bank are mentally torturing him by loading him more works than he can handle leading to untold trouble for him.

Even though he was not paid the salary for handling those works, he is still doing it but a few months ago they made a problem for my father by giving him a memo in which he was held responsible for the uncollected loan amount which was to be paid to the RBI which was not paid on time. Now they say they will deduct that amount every month from his salary.

My whole family is anxious as well as shaken after getting into this kind of a situation. Tired, I am telling my father to quit the job because his health is getting spoiled and we are losing money without even knowing what for!
