Youth Trainees visit NAFED to learn Co-op Marketing

As part of the ongoing Youth Training Programme, participants were taken on a study visit to the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) to gain first-hand exposure to the functioning of a national-level cooperative marketing institution.

The visit was organised with the objective of familiarising young trainees with the role NAFED plays in agricultural marketing and farmer support across the country. During the interaction, officials briefed the participants on NAFED’s organisational structure, procurement systems, marketing operations and policy interventions aimed at stabilising farm prices.

The trainees were also informed about NAFED’s role in implementing government schemes, procurement at Minimum Support Price, and strengthening cooperative marketing networks to protect farmers from market volatility.

The exposure visit helped participants connect classroom learning with real-world practices and provided practical insights into how cooperative institutions operate at the national level. Trainees said the interaction enhanced their understanding of cooperative marketing mechanisms and the importance of strong federations in ensuring fair returns to farmers.

The programme aims to build informed and capable youth leadership for the cooperative sector.
