On the occasion of the 47th Foundation Day of Sahkar Bharati, Shankar Dutt Tiwari, North Zonal Organisational Head, Sahkar Bharati, extended heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all cooperative institutions, office-bearers, workers, and supporters. He said cooperatives play a crucial role in inclusive development and social upliftment and will become even more relevant in the years ahead.
Founded on January 11, 1979, in Pune, Maharashtra, Sahkar Bharati has completed 47 years of dedicated service to India’s cooperative movement.
The organisation today has a presence in around 650 districts across the country and continues to work for the growth, reform, and strengthening of cooperatives, guided by the principle, “No cooperation without values, no progress without cooperation.”
Tiwari said the formation of the Ministry of Cooperation in 2021 has infused fresh momentum into the sector. Key reforms, approval of thousands of PACS and dairy cooperatives, establishment of new national-level multi-state cooperatives, the foundation of the Tribhuvan Sahkari University in Gujarat, and the National Cooperative Policy 2025 reflect the government’s vision of “Prosperity through Cooperation.”
He emphasized that cooperatives and FPOs offer strong opportunities for educated youth in entrepreneurship and self-employment and called for cooperative education to be introduced in school curricula to attract young talent.
