Yogi govt. revives coop sugar mills to spur cane industry

In a bid to give a fillip to the sugarcane economy in UP, the Yogi government has begun reviving closed sugar mills including the two  sugar mills in the cooperative sector, reports Times of India.

Officials are quoted saying a govt. delegation had visited closed mills of the UP Sugar Corporation and UP Cooperative Mills and submitted an action plan for their modernization and expansion.

The team submitted a plan to revive sugar corporation’s Pipraich mill in Gorakhpur and Munderwa mill in Basti.

A source  said  there were 24 sugar mills in the cooperative sector and in seven of them crushing is still going on to fully utilize the cane.
