In the list of World Cooperative Monitor report 2020 published by ICA on Wednesday, the second largest fertilizer cooperative of India-Kribhco has been ranked at Sixth position in the list of sector rankings.
In the Agriculture and Food Industries section, Kribhco has been named on the sixth position. This ranking is based on the ratio of turnover over gross domestic product (GDP) per capita.
The Agriculture and Food Industries section includes all cooperatives that operate along the entire agricultural value chain, starting from the cultivation of agricultural products and livestock farming to the industrial processing of agricultural products and animals. This sector includes both agricultural producers’ cooperatives and consortia of cooperatives (or similar arrangements) that carry out the processing and marketing of agricultural goods for their members.
Four Co-ops including IFFCO, Kribhco, GCMMF & ULCCs have made India proud. Reacting to the news Kribhco Chairman Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav said to Indian Cooperative, “We are happy to note that Kribhco occupying a place of pride among 10 world cooperatives; is no mean achievement, he added.
The sector rankings edition is based on data from 2018. To create the Top 300 and sector rankings based on U.S. Dollars (USD) the 2018 average exchange rate was utilized. Note that the conversion to USD from Local currency unit (LCU) is impacted by the fluctuations from year to year.
It bears recall that the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) and the European Research Institute on Cooperative and Social Enterprises (Euricse) have presented the seventh annual World Cooperative Monitor report.
