Women Committee of ICA-AP concludes its Silver Jubilee

The International Cooperative Alliance-Asia Pacific (ICA-AP) Committee on Women celebrated its 25th anniversary with full gusto and enthusiasm at Tokyo, Japan on 19 and 20 September 2023.

The Japanese Consumers’ Cooperative Union (JCCU) hosted the event. A total of 163 participants attended the event, in which 98 were physically present whereas 65 joined the event virtually.

The apex body-NCUI Chairman Dileepbhai Sanghani congratulated the Indian participants and ICA-AP Women Committee Vice-Chairperson Priti Patel.

He wrote on ‘X’, “Many congratulations to Pritiben Patel, Vice Chairperson of the Committee, for participating in the program along with Chairperson Ms. Chitose Arai on the occasion of 25th anniversary of the Women’s Committee of the International Cooperative Alliance, Asia Pacific, organized in Tokyo, Japan. Congratulations for contributing to women empowerment”.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary year, the Women’s Committee created a special theme with a tagline, “Gender Equality for a Brighter Future”.

The ICA Asia and Pacific Committee on Women is one of the ten regional committees of ICA Asia and Pacific. Established in 1998, in Seoul, South Korea, the Committee promotes gender inclusion and equality in cooperatives in Asia and Pacific.

The activities of the Committee are driven by the objective of promoting gender equality in cooperatives and serve the interests and needs of women in the cooperative sector. Since its establishment, the activities of the Committee have been supported by the JCCU, ICA member since 1971.
