Under the Government of India’s Central Sector Scheme for the Formation and Promotion of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organisations, the target of establishing 10,000 FPOs has been achieved. The initiative aims to strengthen collective farming, improve market access, and enhance farmers’ incomes across the country.
Official data show a significant participation of women in the scheme. Of the total 10,000 FPOs registered so far, 1,175 are exclusively composed of women members, reflecting the growing role of women in organised agriculture and allied activities.
The scheme has also seen wide farmer enrolment. As of January 1, 2026, a total of 56.32 lakh farmers have been registered under the programme. Of these, 21.96 lakh are women farmers, indicating that nearly two-fifths of the beneficiaries are women.
The details were shared by the Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ramnath Thakur, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
