In a remarkable example of “cooperation among cooperatives,” Samata Nagari Sahakari Patsanstha has successfully rescued and revived a Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) in Kopargaon, Ahilyanagar district of Maharashtra, reinforcing the strength of the cooperative movement at the grassroots level.
Under the leadership of Chairman Omprakash Dadappa alias Kaka Koyte, the institution stepped in to save the Kopargaon Pragati Vividh Karyakari Society, which had slipped into financial distress and was on the verge of becoming non-functional. Through timely and strategic intervention, Samata Patsanstha has effectively given a new lease of life to the PACS.
Following a formal agreement between the two entities, the day-to-day operations and overall management of the society will now be handled by Samata Patsanstha, ensuring professional governance, improved efficiency, and operational stability.
The move aligns with the broader vision of Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, who has enabled PACS to diversify into more than 150 business activities. However, many such societies across the country have struggled to leverage these opportunities due to limited capital, inadequate manpower, and lack of modern infrastructure.
Addressing this gap, Samata Patsanstha has gone beyond mere financial assistance by providing technical expertise, advanced systems, and strong managerial support, creating a comprehensive revival model focused on long-term sustainability rather than short-term relief.
