What a fall! Vipul sentenced to jail for 7 years

Vipul Chaudhary, who was once upon a time held as an ace dairy co-operator who headed not only Dudhsagar Dairy but also GCMMF briefly was sentenced to seven-year imprisonment by the Mehsana district court on Tuesday.

 The case dates back to 2014 when 22 people were accused of financial irregularities. The case dates back to 2014 and the court has found Vipul guilty of financial irregularities. When he headed Mehsana District Dairy Co-op Union, one of the milk unions which is part of the conglomerate GCMMF, owner of Amul.

Vipul whose fate has seen many ups and downs in the recent years, is originally a Congressman but he switched to BJP to become the Chairman of GCMMF. Later he had to vacate this as well as that of Mehsana dairy posts. He was also banned from contesting co-op elections for three years.

Vipul Chaudhary’s tenure was from 2005 to 2016 at Mehsana dairy and during this tenure, he committed more frauds totalling to more than Rs 750 crore.

Vipul Chaudhary’s decision to supply cattle feed to Maharashtra at Sharad Pawar’s goading, is also said to have caused losses worth crores of rupees.
