Indian Express reports ED has denied objecting to EOW giving a clean chit to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and 74 others in the alleged Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank (MSCB) scam.
However, the central agency has insisted on a probe establishing conflict of interest of authorities involved in the case.
Meanwhile, a couple of petitions have been filed before the court challenging the EOW closure report.
At the same time, ED has told the court that it has the legal right to intervene in the proceedings as it is a public interest matter.
