Times of India reports the Rajkot District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union member of GCMMF is employing child labour in their milk packaging unit in Rajkot. However, the dairy cooperative has denied the charge.
Meanwhile, GCMMF managing director R S Sodhi has said any violation of law will be punished under their by-laws.
The crime came to light when a team from the labour department raided the dairy and rescued 16 child workers. Officials associated with the anti-child labor department said the affected children had been brought by the contractor from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
The turnover of this dairy unit in 2016-17 was Rs 736 crore.
