In a landmark moment for the cooperative sector, the Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune, has become the first affiliate institute of the newly formed Tribhuvan Sahakari University, established in Anand, Gujarat.
The historic affiliation agreement was formally signed on Friday at the university campus in the presence of Padma Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan Sahakari University; Dr. Umakant Dash, Director of IRMA; and Dr. Suva Mohanty, Director of VAMNICOM.
Under this agreement, VAMNICOM will offer four academic programmes and six certificate courses under the aegis of the university, furthering its commitment to cooperative education, research, and capacity building.
This collaboration is seen as a major step forward in realising the vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi”, championed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and driven by the dynamic leadership of Amit Shah, Union Minister of Home and Cooperation.
The Tribhuvan Sahakari University, India’s first university exclusively dedicated to the cooperative sector, has been established in Anand, a historic hub of the country’s cooperative movement.
Constituted under the Union Ministry of Cooperation, the university aims to offer specialised education, training, and research in key areas such as cooperative management, finance, law, and rural development. It aspires to empower cooperative institutions at the grassroots level by fostering innovation, strengthening governance, and facilitating inclusive and sustainable rural development.
With its strong focus on academic excellence and practical relevance, Tribhuvan Sahakari University is poised to become a pivotal institution in shaping the future of India’s cooperative landscape.
