The delay in holding elections to the Vadodara Dairy board, more than three months after expiry of its term, has been challenged in the Gujarat High Court, media reports say. Senior cooperative leader Dineshbhai Balubhai Patel has filed a petition seeking directions to conduct and complete the elections without further delay.
The plea, to be heard on January 8, cites violation of statutory timelines. The case has drawn attention amid allegations of political interference and internal differences within the ruling establishment.
Similar delays in other milk unions were earlier addressed by court orders mandating immediate polls. Recent cooperative election results in Vadodara district have underlined the continuing influence of established leaders, forming the backdrop to the legal challenge.
