Uttarakhand will host a series of events throughout the year to mark the International Year of Cooperatives, announced State Cooperation Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat at a workshop titled “Cooperatives Build a Better World” in Dehradun, media reports say.
The event, inaugurated by Dr. Rawat and key officials, also launched the annual work plan and activities calendar.
Dr. Rawat highlighted initiatives like the Kisan Kalyan Dindayal Loan Scheme and the Lakhpati Didi scheme, which has empowered 100,000 women through loans.
He emphasized Uttarakhand’s pioneering role in digitizing cooperative societies and its commitment to 100% organic farming in 42 hilly blocks.
The state plans to establish 400 new multi-purpose committees by March 2025 and organize four cooperative fairs. The event also saw the launch of the Uttarakhand State Cooperative Bank’s magazine.
