While inaugurating the fourth day of the Cooperative Fair 2025 at Rishikul Ground, Haridwar, Uttarakhand’s Cooperative Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said the state has carved out a new identity in the cooperative sector.
He noted that the entire country is celebrating the year as the “Year of Cooperatives,” with similar fairs being organised across all 13 districts to expand awareness and participation.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rawat emphasized that the state aims to take Uttarakhand’s local products to national and global markets through focused branding initiatives.
He shared that 30 lakh people have already been linked to cooperatives in the state, and the government has set an ambitious target to expand this number to 50 lakh.
Highlighting the growing role of women in the cooperative movement, he said that 250 women have been elected as chairpersons, 160 as vice-chairpersons, and over 2,500 women now serve on cooperative boards.
