In a landmark initiative to strengthen women, Uttarakhand’s Cooperation Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat announced a new loan scheme under which women in the state will receive interest-free loans without any guarantee.

As part of the program, women will be eligible to receive Rs 21,000 in the first year through cooperative banks. The loans will be provided without collateral and at zero interest.

Those who repay on time will see their loan eligibility increase in subsequent years,up to Rs 51,000 in the second and third years, and eventually Rs 1,00,000 in later years.

Dr. Rawat emphasized that the scheme, under the theme “Sashakt Naari, Atmanirbhar Uttarakhand” (Empowered Women, Self-Reliant Uttarakhand), is aimed at boosting entrepreneurship and self-reliance among women, particularly in rural areas.

The initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to women’s empowerment by giving them easier access to financial resources and encouraging timely repayment.
