Urea in MP: 80% to co-ops and 20% to private sellers

MP Fertilizer Sellers Association has demanded 50 percent of urea fertilizer instead of 20 percent. The state government has decided to supply 80 percent urea to the cooperative sector and a measly 20 percent to private sellers, reports a news outlet.

The private sellers association is griping over anomalies in the new fertilizer policy of the government. In a rack of 2500 MT, only 500 MT urea is being given to private sector. There are 5-6 seller companies in one district. One rack is supplied in 2-3 districts.

Sources say private sector plays an important role in making farmers aware about the use of nitrogen and potash, etc.

Sources add shops of cooperative department remain open only for seven hours, but the shops of private sector remain open for 14 hours.

There are 10, 000 Cooperative distribution centers as against 50,000 private centers in the State.
