Denying charges of being a cipher in banking operations, Assistant Registrar Ira Upreti who has been appointed the MD of Uttarakhand State Co-op Bank said, “It is wrong to say that I am clueless about banking operations. Ever since we join the job, we are taught about banking operations”, she added.
It bears recalling that state Congress leaders accused Upreti of having a lack of knowledge of banking. She was reacting to the news published by Indian Cooperative on Sunday titled “Uttarakhand co-op bodies suffer from absence of professional-MDs “.
“I joined the cooperative department in 2005 and was given the charge of several apex cooperative bodies including that of Uttarakhand Cooperative Federation where I was MD for three years”, she asserted.
Defending Upreti, M P Tripathy, Assistant Registrar, who himself was given the MD In-Charge of Uttarakhand Cooperative Federation said, I stand with Upreti and rebut all the allegations of incompetence made against her. We have always learnt about banking, he added.
