The Uttar Pradesh State Backward Classes Commission has recommended 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes in cooperative societies, aligning with constitutional provisions and current laws under the Cooperative Act and Electoral Rules, media reports claim.
At a meeting chaired by Commission Chairman Rajesh Verma, members discussed OBC representation, caste inclusion/exclusion, and the overall socio-economic uplift of backward classes.
The commission also took up the issue of including the Devwanshi caste in the Central OBC list, advising a formal proposal to the National Backward Classes Commission.
