UP dairy farmers must get good return: Banas Chairman

Shankar Chaudhary, Chairman of Banas Dairy and Minister in Gujarat Cabinet has promised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to replicate the model of successful Banas dairy in the state, reports Hindu’s BusinessLine.

Earlier, as reported in these columns Chaudhary accompanied GCMMF Managing Director R S Sodhi and made a presentation before the CM on how to revive dairy co-ops in Uttar Pradesh.

The key challenges before the UP’s dairy co-ops , as listed by Shankar Chaudhary are the absence of remunerative prices, the lack of cold chain facilities for storage and transport of milk, and the inability to add value.

The state’s version of Amul known as Parag is simply not poised to take on these challenges which Yogi wants to change, according to sources.

Banas Dairy will replicate its cold chain structure in UP.  Procurement prices are being increased forcing  private dairies too in its wake , said Chaudhary. It will also provide assistance in animal care and providing healthy cattle-feed for better productivity.
