The number of Dairy Cooperative Societies organised during 2021-22 (provisional) includes 2,28,374 in which Uttar Pradesh stands at the highest number with 42,389 and the lowest is in Meghalaya i.e. 21.
The list was shared by Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala while replying to a query raised by Lok Sabha member Shrimati Veena Devi related to the total number of cooperative milk production centers in the country.
Rupala further added that the department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying is implementing the various schemes for providing subsidy and interest subvention to the farmers to increase milk productivity. The Dairy Processing and Infrastructure Development Fund (DIDF) scheme is being implemented with the objective of creating / strengthening milk processing, value addition & chilling facilities.
“Under the scheme, NABARD raises the fund from market and disburses loans to dairy cooperatives with 2.5% interest subvention through National Dairy Development Board and National Cooperative Development Corporation. Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying provides 2.5% interest subvention to National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development”, he informed.
Rupala’s reply added, “The State Dairy Cooperative & Farmers Producers Organization (SDCFPO) scheme one time support in the form of Interest subvention on working capital loan has been introduced from the financial year 2020-21”.
