Maharashtra Cooperation Minister Dilip Walse Patil had called a meeting to devise ways and means of resolving issues pertaining to urban cooperative banks of the state recently in Mumbai.

In the meeting, it was finalized to constitute a committee for doing the study on UCBs, which are weak. The committee will likely be chaired by Vidyadhar Anaskar and members would be from Maharashtra UCBs federation and Maharashtra State Cooperative Banks Association. It will be constituted in a couple of days.

The meeting took place a day prior to the Shah’s meeting with the representatives of UCBs scheduled at Delhi on 12th October 2023.

It was attended by BJP leader Pravin Darekar, MSC Bank Administrative board Chairman Vidyadhar Anaskar, Additional Chief Secretary (Cooperation and Marketing) Rajesh Kumar, Cooperative Commissioner and Registrar Anil Kawade, Maharashtra UCB Federation CEO Sayali Bhoir, among others.

In the meeting it was decided to help those Urban Cooperative Banks which are having negative net worth, facing liquidity crunch, SAF and other issues.

The Maharashtra UCBs federation has been asked to prepare the report of the weak banks and submit it. The state government will plan to infuse capital in these banks.

Maharashtra Cooperation Minister also assured to raise issues related to UCBs before Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
