Tribhuvan Sahkari University on Monday inaugurated a Management Development Programme on “Training of Trainers on PMFBY and KCC”, aimed at strengthening awareness and outreach of key agricultural support schemes among farmers. The programme, launched on Monday, is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

The inaugural session was attended by Saswata Narayan Biswas, Director of Institute of Rural Management Anand and Dean of the School of Cooperative Management at TSU, along with M. S. Sawant, Chief Manager at Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited. Also present were Pranav Mali, Technical Support and Training Associate at United Nations Development Programme, and Prof. Aashish Argade, Programme Coordinator. Pallavi Mali from the UNDP–MoA&FW project joined virtually.

Addressing participants, Prof. Biswas highlighted IRMA’s transformation into Tribhuvan Sahkari University and its expanded role in strengthening India’s cooperative ecosystem.

The programme focuses on building trainers’ capacity on the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Kisan Credit Card, covering agricultural risk management, crop insurance mechanisms, claim assessment, weather-based insurance and digital platforms.

It aims to equip trainers to effectively spread awareness and extend the benefits of these schemes to last-mile farmers across the country.
