Sending a positive message down the line, the newly created Cooperation Ministry has appointed former Director of Vamnicom Dr K K Tripathy (IES) as the OSD to Union Cooperative Minister Amit Shah. Tripathy, who is known as an officer with unflinching faith in the co-op model of business, will join today on Monday.
After logging 3.5 years at Vamnicom, he was made Economic Advisor in the Fertilizer Ministry, where he served only briefly before being appointed as OSD to Shah. Talking to Indian Cooperative Tripathy said, “It is a surprise for me as well as I had no inkling. I will meet the expectations of the government and would try to take the cooperative movement to newer heights”.
It is to be noted that Tripathy is an old hand at the sector and has also authored several books on the theme of cooperative. Recently, after becoming NCUI President Dileep Saghani had called him to his office to profit from his experience. As the Director of Vamnicom, Tripathy had introduced many new things.
Talking to Indian Cooperative, some of the co-operators said, it’s good news that the government has picked a man who is informed about the cooperative sector. We are sure he will work to strengthen the cooperative movement and create a positive image of the cooperative movement in the corridors of power.
Earlier, Abhay Kumar Singh had been appointed as joint secretary (Central Registrar) in the Ministry of Cooperation. Singh was Private Secretary to former Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh.
