TRIFED showcases Tribal Enterprise Shift at Fest

India’s tribal economy is undergoing a significant transformation, with communities moving from subsistence-based forest livelihoods to market-linked enterprises, supported by TRIFED. This shift is being highlighted at the Bharat Tribes Fest 2026, currently underway at Sunder Nursery in the national capital.

Organised by TRIFED in association with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the festival presents a vibrant platform showcasing tribal crafts, culture, and entrepreneurship. It reflects a broader policy push to integrate traditional knowledge with modern market systems.

Through initiatives like the Van Dhan Yojana and the Tribes India network, TRIFED is enabling tribal producers to move up the value chain, from raw material suppliers to brand owners. Van Dhan Vikas Kendras are playing a key role by facilitating value addition, processing, and collective enterprise development at the grassroots level.

The initiative is also strengthening direct market access by linking tribal artisans with urban and global consumers, while partnerships with institutions like NIFT are helping adapt traditional crafts to contemporary tastes.

The result is a growing ecosystem where tribal heritage meets enterprise, enhancing incomes and global recognition.
